Package or separately ?

Gooooooooood afternoon.

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine in the UK

I mentioned in a different post that I am planning a trip to WDW
in May 2020.

Last time we went, I had a package holiday from Thomas Cook.

This time I want to travel with Virgin.

The original plan was to book the tickets, resort and dinning with Disney and book the flights separately.

Is this a wise thing to do?

I dread the thought of booking the resort etc, then finding I can't book the flight because the seats are full.

The sensible thing to do is wait and book everything the same day.
But then I worry about the resort filling..

(I'm a worrier)

Any advice is more than welcome.

Regards,

TDC & Lola the Bulldog who is currently snoring her head off on my shoulder.

We book DIY every time now. I think our last package was 2007. We book with Disney as soon as free dining is released and book flights later. I’ve never worried about there being no seats left on the flight. I always feel there are plenty of flight options, even if I have to go indirect, so to me booking early and getting the best offer from Disney and locking in my preferred resort and room type is preferable.

We book ours separately and have done the last couple of times. Wouldnt book a package now.

We always get the flights first then we know the dates. Once thats done, you can take your time to sort accommodation. The way I look at it, is theres always going to be somewhere to stay as long as you can get there.

I want to book for departure 10th May 2020.
But I can't book flights with virgin until its 11 months before the departure date (Or something like that)

The plan is to book the resort etc as soon as the free dinning is released, but the worry then is having to wait until I can book the flights and finding there is a problem.

To be honest I enjoyed the flights with Thomas Cook.
But my family are plane lovers, and with Virgin retiring their 747 fleet in the near future we want to travel on one before it's too late.

Thank you for your advice.

Booking flights with Virgin direct means I have to wait 11 months before the departure date.

You should be absolutely fine. The only thing I can think to check is the days that Virgin fly out of your chosen airport. If need be, you can always amend the dates on your resort booking once you have secured your flights.

Thank you so much.

Put my mind at ease.

We will be flying from Manchester.
I'll stick to the original plan then. I can't believe how ridiculous the prices are for package holidays with Virgin. Even Thomas Cook has gotten a little pricey since the last time we went.

We have booked separately for the Last twenty years or so.
It’s very easy to do and can save big money (in business class) compared to a package.

I always book my hotel and park tickets direct with Disney then book flights direct with the airline when they're available. My dates are set in stone when I've booked the hotel and I book the flights when they're at a price I'm happy with.

That's exactly what loads of people do. I do the same when I go to DLP too. Book the hotel and park tickets with Disney then the Eurostar at a later date when it's available.
