Mobile Flying into Miami

Contemplating booking flights to Miami this year because the cost of flights into Orlando seems to be really high, has anybody got any recommendations, areas to stay in and things to do, we’re planning on stopping anything from 2 to 5 days and then driving over to Orlando for the remainder but open to any suggestions, many thanks Mandy

Have flown into MIA twice and both times stayed for four nights on SouthBeach before heading off. If you’re looking for an American Diner would definitely recommend the Big Pink

I would recommend it , last year we drove up that night very tiring , couple years stayed in Miami 3 days as Miami can a lot more expensive, did groupon deal for paddleboarding , fast speed boat and sightseeing and also went to a dolphins game, all great , loved every part of of it , stayed in the Hampton by Hilton at the airport as a little paranoid of Miami traffic , one thing definitely get the sun pass transponder

Like you the prices were too good not to. We found flights with BA for £80 + tax return but didnt include luggage.

Weve booked 3 nights at the Intercontinental before we head up to Bay Lake. Looking forward to it.

We are flying into NYC for a couple of nights and then an internal flight down to Miami. Staying in South Beach for a couple of nights to chill out and then heading into the Keys for a few days to explore, before heading up to Orlando. Can't wait!

We flew Heathrow to Tampa via Miami in Aug last year (BA flydrive); found Miami to be a very easy airport to navigate and the queues were quicker and better managed than we’ve found at MCO/Sanford. Drove from Tampa airport to Anna Maria for 3 nights then onto Orlando. Tampa direct to Heathrow, return. Tampa- another smooth airport process.

The outbound journey involved a taxi the evening before flying, from Gatwick to Heathrow (we left the car at Gatwick for the return leg); had an overnight at Heathrow & were fresh and ready to fly the next morning. The whole journey was smooth, and with our 3 children (6-8-13) with us (and zero previous indirect flight experience or inclination) it was honestly a breeze...all that it required was a bit of extra planning. Fabulous holiday, and will actively seek same combination of travel next time around. Happy planning.

We have flown into Miami a few times and find it far more efficient than MCO for immigration etc. We generally stay in Miami for a night or so at one end of the holiday to save that long drive. We stay at the Hotel Urbanica Miami Beach which is a great boutique hotel one block back from South Beach. Great location as some of the hotels directly on the beach are noisy at night & superb staff and cleanliness. We love the hop on hop off bus tour for getting around and making sure you see everything and we love the jet boat Miami adrenaline junkie boat ride. We always sign up to Groupon Miami and buy our experiences through them as it is much cheaper.

The Hop on Hop off bus is a really good way of seeing Miami. The boat trip round Star Island is also interesting.

If it fits in with your plans driving down the Keys is well worth it. Some great places to see on the way down and we love Key West.

On your drive to Orlando Saw Grass Mills just outside Fort Lauderdale is well worth a visit if you like a bit of retail therapy.
