My daughter has an EE contract and we did the add on. I am not sure what the cost is now thought as it may have increased again, so might not be very cost effective now. I know the price went up after we took out the EE contract and it was maybe an extra £25 a month.

One thing to point out though is that if you take out the Roam Abroad add on to an existing EE contract then they'll keep their UK phone number. That can sometimes be an issue. For example (and it's a minor one), I tried to sign up to a shop (Pieology) to get discounts but I couldn't because of my UK phone number. My daughter could though because she had a Mint mobile esim which came with a USA phone number.

And, yes, the EE Roam Abroad add on is now £25 a week. Which makes it very expensive when they are there for about 10 weeks.
