Virgin Atlantic have this morning announced that they are seeing a drop-off in bookings to the States after a strong start to the year.

This may be the article.

Virgin are not necessarily saying that there is a drop off in visitors to ‘DIBBER central’ , ie Central Florida. Their current prices to Central Florida suggests that they are having no problems with these routes at all.
There are also reports of a slowdown in domestic US flight numbers as well , reflecting a possible ‘tightening of belts’ .

Virgin service many other USA destinations on mixed and business routes and this may well be where they are having issues.. or not.

I’d like to change my vote from 4 to 1, with severe apprehensions.
I’ve just booked to go to Central Florida in November because there will be a family reunion of sorts. I don’t really want to go, but I’m going because I want to see family members I don’t often get to.

I've got to admit I've not got the same enthusiasm I once had.
The current American leadership are giving me the impression they don't like or respect people from other countries, obviously this includes me, it just takes the shine off!

Well, things have changed since I started this poll.. both personally and internationally.. and so has my position.

We are committed to flying into Washington DC, 3 nights then down to Puerto Rico for our Cruise at the end of which, it is up to New England for 3 nights then home from Boston. The Companion Voucher, Avios and Cash plus internal flights are all spent. We have shortened the New England bit from 5 to 3 nights at the cost of a £75 rearrangement fee.

That brings us to April, May or June 2026 and what in probability was a drive and Amtrac from Washington DC, through Nashville, Memphis etc and down to a finish in N Orleans. A lot of planning was in place, but no expenditure. We have scrubbed it and have booked Thailand instead for February. The flights are booked and further expenditures made.

The deciding factor for me is that the current policies have utterly tainted my perception of what the USA actually stands for on the World Stage as a result of recent edicts that seem to gather widespread support within the Nation, particularly in areas/States that we would normally be keen to visit. I never, ever considered the USA as Nirvana and am pretty ‘Worldly Wise’, but I never thought that things would come to this.

We may return, but no earlier than January 2029 or unless something cataclysmic occurs before. There are many other places to see and the USA is on the back burner for now as other Nations would appear more welcoming..
