Student finance help please.

So student finance is open today so ds has set up an account . It says he needs his bank account details so are these a student bank account or normal bank account . He can’t open a student one until 2 months prior to the course starting so earliest for insurance choice is beginning July for firm choice end of July . So how to do complete student finance ? Am I being thick ( be gentle lol) .

Any account will do, you can change the account details to the student one when you have that set up.

I think my son and daughter put in their normal bank details and then swapped then when they had their student accounts set up at a later date.

We did the same as above when my son started uni and opened it with an existing account that he had. It was quite easy to change the bank details over if I remember right.

Thanks for highlighting that it's opened as my daughter is starting in September so need to get hers sorted.

Good luck Mexy, I’m not sure if student finance Wales is open yet for my DD so we can check later. It’s half term here so it could be a good week to do it.

Will you let me know when you find out please? DD isn’t here at the moment but as you say with it being half term it would be a good time to get it sorted.

Hope it’s not too difficult - I know I must get my P60 when I’m back in work later this week.

I just briefly looked at the website and it doesn’t seem to be available yet. I found last year’s date on there which was 12 March, so if it’s around the same this year it will be in a few weeks time.
