Note for people wanting to do character breakfast and have free half board
It is not a cheap supplement. It is 25 euros each.
For people staying at newport with free half board i thought it would be just an 8 euros supplement fee. Been told it is 25 euros each. Wowsers. |

Wowzers indeed!
I'm staying at SL at Halloween & have the free half board plus vouchers. I was hoping to do this & also was told 8 euro supplement pp not sure what to do now. I suppose it will still work out cheaper than dinner in inventions with the vouchers?

I have read other posts on here from people who have free half board, who have phoned and added Plaza Gardens breakfast for £8
Confused! And I think we just won't bother.

I've just booked PG onto our booking with the WDTC for Halloween morning (9.45). I've only been charged £8 pp but only had to pay £3 deposit today to secure the booking. I asked had I anymore to pay & she said no as I have half board plus. I forgot to ask her have I still to pay with voucher on top of the £8 pp? It seems a bit cheap if I haven't. Also that was the only day & time slot left while we're there, so it is booking up fast!

Is this essentially to do with the free HB only offering a grab and go breakfast option, which is valued at €10ish per person? Compared with the paid-for HB which covers a hotel buffet? I can see that it's reasonable to charge a different supplement for the breakfast upgrade on that basis, although it sounds like a confusing system is being implemented very poorly!
Re: Inventions, we used HB+ vouchers for dinner there last year and paid the extra. I think we paid around €60 extra between three of us? If they're broadly comparable price-wise I think I'd go for Inventions over the character breakfast anyway though - when we did the character breakfast (back at Cafe Mickey) it felt a lot more rushed compared with dinner at Inventions. I think the sitting was only really an hour which is actually not that long to meet six characters and eat a good meal! Inventions was much more relaxed in every way. |

When you go for the PG breakfast you need to take your hotel breakfast voucher, which has a face value depending on which hotel you are staying in (e.g. DLH - £23) and the supplement voucher. The full cost for the breakfast is £27.
When we were there somebody did not have the correct breakfast voucher and they needed to pay the full price minus the supplement price. P.S.- PG character breakfast was better than the Inventions breakfast Edited at 07:54 PM. |

Thank you for explaining that, the girl wasn't very clear on the phone earlier. I will have the breakfast voucher from the SL & will have already paid the extra £8 pp when we get there. It's been added onto my package balance.

It's the cheapest character meal at the moment but I didn't have a very good experience at Plaza Gardens. The character interaction in the second set (there's 2 sets of characters and they do one half of the restaurant then the other) was atrocious and has resulted in the only time I've ever made a complaint to DLP. The highlights were Tigger getting into a confrontation with one of the managers and Piglet actually making a hurry up sign to our group and trying to walk off after taking one picture with one person in a group of nine.
By all means do it, but go into it with your eyes open. They've packed this restaurant out and need to make sure everyone sees the characters in around an hour (after allowing for seating everyone and breaks between the two seatings). I actually heard from a CM who is a friend with the characters there that they're told 30 seconds per table. |
