Savings using DVC points rental?

We were due to stay at Disney Old Key West resort this year in a 2 bedroom villa, unfortunately due to Covid we decided to cancel.
Depending on if the current restrictions are lifted, we would like to go again in July 2021. I have always booked through a travel agent but decided to look into the possibility of renting DVC points. Are the savings worth it and what is the process.

Thanks for any help.

I've used DVC rental lots of times, both using Davids and DVC Rental store, the process is on their websites and its really simple. Previously we've not paid for point protection insurance and never had any issues, however we were meant to be going in October and because we've not bought insurance with these sites we will only be offered a voucher and that's only if the travel ban is still in place, luckily we are covered by our insurance but its definitely something to think about. We'll still use jn the future as the savings are so significant vs going through disney

We only had 2 nights at BWV studio but it was perfect and so easy to do with DVC rentals.
It cost us half the price of a room in the same resort, with the additional benefits of having a small kitchen. We can’t imagine booking any other way now

100% worth it.
The only caveat is Covid.
Until you are sure Covid is not going to stop you flying, I’d personally only book cancellable bookings.
July hopefully we will be fine, but no guarantee yet so unless you get a guarantee of refund if you cannot fly, you’d be taking a risk.
When we are back to normal times it’s definitely a great option.
Much less reason to be concerned if based in the USA.

With DVC-Rental you can check availability and costs without having to put down any deposit. You simply put in the dates you are looking for and you can check availability and cost. That way you can always compare the cost to what your other options are.

Also with dvc rental company I received this as part of an enquiry if covid restricts flights

As noted in our rental agreements, we do not allow any refunds under any circumstances, unless our Point Protection Plan is purchased at the time the reservation is secured. In the event there is a travel ban in place preventing you to travel on your date of check-in to the United States, so long as your reservation is paid in full, you would receive a full dollar for dollar credit good for 24-months.

I’d definitely go for such a plan if offered.

Priced pop century for 2 weeks in sept at £2500
Priced dvc for boardwalk or old key West for 10 days and 4 days at sapphire falls universal for £2150
Seems a no brainer. The free car parking would cover the cancellation policy
