Painting prep

So I've stripped out my DDs room, gone to uni. She had a red feature wall. The paint has stripped off really well back to pink plaster. Just a few more bits to go. Would you just key the wall with a bit of diluted emulsion or do a pva coat? I don't want to start painting and it bubbles. Thanks in advance.

Mmm, damned if you do damned if you don't. Personally I would put 1 coat of emulsion on thinned down 25% at least and give it 24 hours.
If there is an issue I would use a stabilising solution such as Bond It, far cheaper than Stabilex or other top names.

This is exactly what I do. I use contract emulsion for the initial diluted coat. It is much cheaper than vinyl emulsion.
Note that it will get absorbed into the plaster so you will use much more than you think.

What did you use to strip a painted wall to the bare plaster? Has the wall got any gouges or scratch marks on it now. The preperation of the wall needs to be done before you paint

You will almost certainly need further filling and prep after the initial coat goes on. This will show up imperfections you dont se with plaster walls.
The beauty of contract emulsion is that it doesn't have any of the "vinyl" that you get in top coats so is very easy to sand. Once you have vinyl emulsion on, sanding is a real pain.

I would have done but I took 2 shelves off and one large section of paint came off. Its all come off really cleanly so will do the thin coat of emulsion and check again it came off like sheets of wallpaper 😆 Never stripped paint off walls before which is why I asked the best way to prep it to paint again.
