Help - Neighbours Cat Has Adopted me!

Somebody in my area owns a nice tortoiseshell cat, well fed.

Last year it seemed to adopt me and every time I was outside it would run up to me, hurl itself on the ground at my feet and demand attention.

Well it's getting worse! We now can't go outside without it trying to force its way into the house.

Just now I was loading the dishwasher and had the kitchen window open. Darn me it appears in the kitchen having jumped in

How can I stop its behaviour as I wont frighten it away.

You can’t. A little grey cat from down our street spends at least 80% of its life in our house. We also have three cars of our own. He goes home occasionally and they shave him a couple of times a year as his fur gets very knotted. My husband puts him out about 25 times a day but he’s back through the cat flap within minutes. Cats choose people. Not the other way around.

Once one has got in - that’s it! You will have a house full next week. You will be known locally as Crazy cat man Tom 🤣

It’s probably adopted you and a dozen other neighbours. The children’s book Six Dinner Sid explains all.😂

You could always get a cat flap that opens with the cat's chip or a magnet if you *really* don't want him there.

I don’t mind him. If the other half wants to put him out multiple times a day I’ll leave him to it I find it quite entertaining. Tried magnet cat flap but our cats loose their collars all the time so it got too expensive.

Congratulations on the new cat.

We got a previous cat that way. Ended up speaking to the neighbour up the road and they said to keep him as he was never going home. They already had 2 cats so think this one wanted peace 😀

There's only one way, don the mankini and lay in the garden. If that doesn't scare it away then nothing will
