Mobile BA Business Price

Hi

I have been lucky enough to use miles to book BA business class flights for myself and DS for our trip 23/5-06/06/20 (LGW-MCO). I am now on the lookout for a cash ticket for hubby. Fare is currently £1800. Given that it’s May half-term is this a good price? Am I likely to get anything better as I was ideally hoping for £1500 or under. Is that a pipe dream?

That us a good price. My looking at Club World in low season (nov/dec pre Christmas rush) prices average around £1,750

OP. £1760 on Netflights, that's an AA code share but on the BA flight

Edit. Ooops. BA is the same price.

Do you have any Avios points left ? I usually get £200 off my BA business class seat for around 50,000 points.

That’s fairly poor value for such an amount of Avios. I’d expect to extract at least 1p of value per Avios point. Might take less for small amounts of “orphan” Avios, but not for that amount.

OP - that’s not a bad price. £1500 isn’t a pipedream, it happens, but far from guaranteed on those dates.

have you looked at a flydrive package for that seat? the effective saving on the car hire may well offset the cost of the seat above your budget

Do you need to factor in the seat booking fee (£100 pp each way)? Not sure how it works when using miles but there aren’t many business class seats so it may be worth paying to sit together if important to you.

Thanks all. I think I might just pull the trigger - although DH has just offered to go premium economy at a saving of £1k. It would be wrong of me to take him up on it, right? 😂
