Our last florida trip was 2016 and the new rule was out with passports needing to be machine readable and have camera logo on front, a lady a couple of places in front of us at gate was stopped from boarding and was very upset. I wondered though how it wasn't picked up before she got to gate or is that after checkins shut and details sent through to US?

I do wonder how this can be missed, every flight confirmation always reminds you. I guess some people might be travelling for the first time since visa waiver on the plane went out and ESTA came in for the US but it is baffling.

Think you're preaching to the converted here on the Dibb, but I do wonder how many people out there may not know. I'm known amongst colleagues and friends for my Florida holidays so any first timers always come to me for advice. What a nightmare for those that are unaware!

In the good old days you could renew your passport and still use the visa in your old passport if it hadn't expired. |
