Grand Plaza - St Petes
After reading Wizzo's trip reports I have booked a 2 night stay at the Grand Plaza.
I have just had a look at Trip Advisor and some of the reviews are awful saying the hotel is dated and overdue a renovation. Has anyone stayed recently and can put my mind at ease please? |

We stayed last year and wouldn’t go back. The location was amazing but the room really wasn’t very nice and in desperate need of renovation.

We stayed there for a night last year. Yes the hotel is quite dated but all the facilities are there including a good choice of bars. The beach has private cabanas and chairs and there is a bar service so you can just lie on the beach with your drinks and snacks brought to you. We didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel as there was an ihop opposite so can’t comment but we did eat at Bongos and loved it. Food and drinks were great and a good price, especially for the location. We have looked at staying at Clearwater and the hotels on the beach are a lot more expensive.
Our room was clean and had a balcony with a fabulous view. Yes the hotel could do with a refurb but then I imagine the prices would reflect that then and you don’t spend much time in your room as the beach is just a few steps down from the hotel. We would stay there again, Edited at 08:11 AM. |

We stayed last year. Totally agree with ChoppyGirl. The room was absolutely fine. It's a beach hotel, and the location is outstanding. We ate at Madfish just outside the hotel on an early dine, and had one of the best meals we've ever had in Florida, so would thoroughly recommend a visit. I would definitely return.

I'd echo this, try to get yourself into a suite on a high floor, the views more than make up for the rooms being slightly tired

I will echo what the others have said. The hotel is a little tired but my goodness the beach out front more than makes up for that. The Toasted Monkey bar a little along the road is fab and the views are just amazing.
They do have a resort fee which we didnt realise until we got there so please be ready for that if you didnt know about it already. |

We stayed there for a couple of nights last year and I’d agree with everyone else. It is in need of a refurb but it has a kind of faded charm that we really liked and it has a lovely atmosphere.
Bongos is nice and the buffet breakfast was nice too. And you really can’t beat the location.
