Christmas Eve box is discovered first thing, danishes etc for breakfast whilst watching the grinch. then a walk in the woods with our dog Tilly and hot chocolate (weather permitting). Family church service is usually around 1pm then we go out for an early dinner with friends and exchange gifts.
Then we cozy up with treats from the Christmas Eve box and watch Scrooge (Jim Carey version) then Elf. Milk & cookies left out for Santa then bed 🎅🏻

I dream of a day of baking... Christmas music ... watching a film whilst enjoying a glass of something festive 😀... reality is working followed by frantic cleaning and desperately trying to finishing wrapping! 😐

The last few years we have done Thomasland the day before and stayed onsite. The kids are getting older but we might be able to do it this year. We visit my aunt and uncle, as it’s their wedding anniversary, and have a buffet at home.
Kids have a note from Holly Elf, who leaves new PJs and hot chocolates 😀

It's just my daughter and I and we do the whole thing, Christmas Eve.

We go out for dinner in the evening and then come back home and open our presents.

The maternal family is German and even though my mother made us wait for Christmas Day when she told me how they did it in the old country I decided I would do this for any child of mine.

The benefit to me was huge, a nights sleep!

Christmas morning we get up to have a glass or two of Bucks Fizz with nibbles and then make dinner later in the day.

We both love our Chrismas Eves as did my late husband ...

Veggie prep, homemade bacon and apricot stuffing made, Pavlova base cooked and left in oven to dry out (Pavlova instead of Xmas pud!) All done with Xmas music played in kitchen. The more help the merrier, once done if we've visitors then play cards/dominoes and old fashioned games that I've inherited. (We also don't watch the tv on Xmas day apart from Queen's Speech) Love Xmas

Do you get a caterer to do a buffet or take away type stuff? Sounds like a lovely day

What sort of work do you do? Do they rotate that shift so some years you get Xmas day off?

Are you a last minute shopper or can you wrap in advance? I buy early (4 children) last year I had everything wrapped at the beginning of December it was so nice not having to rush the wrapping I did a little each day when my youngest was napping.

Morning: house clean
Afternoon: set up and lay my Christmas table(s) plus any last minute cooking/baking
Evening: dinner at our favourite restaurant then home to open the Christmas Eve box, put on our new cheesy Christmas PJs then settle down to watch Polar Express with treats n drinks.

Exactly the same every year. Wouldn’t change it for the world 💕and I dread the day the kids want to go out with their friends instead!
