Kitchen splashback
Hi there I’m just after opinions/suggestions of what to have on the wall behind my hob? I quite fancied a glass splashback but hubby says no to that suggestion, he said things could get behind it ? And it will be hard to keep clean. I could have the wall tiled but I’m not too sure about that, so any ideas or photos of yours I could see and pinch the idea? Many thanks

I have a splashback and there's not a chance anything can get behind it - easier to clean than Tiles no grout or anything - love it

OP. I will answer the part of your querstion ref stuff getting behind
Splashbacks are best stuck on using either 'no more nails' or I use 'sticks like ≈≈≈≈' Once on put some masking tape on the wall around it and some on the splashback itself and gun around with clear mastic, smooth off and remove the tape. That way it is totally sealed.

I have stainless steel and have regretted that decision from about a week after it was fitted , my mum has black glass and is fairly easy to clean .

Thanks for your replies.
The wall the hob goes on will stick out about 4 inches from the rest, it will be about 90cm wide so I don’t know whether to make a feature with it with tiles or just keep plain, like a glass splashback. Deciding on kitchen, appliances, decor etc is stressful lol |

OP. What I will say having fitted loads of kitchens is the problem with tiles behind a cooker is the grout.
The tiles always clean up fine but grout gets discoloured especially if it's white. Coloured grout not so much I have seen beautiful white grout around the kitchen and then above the cooker it's gone a grubby grey colour due to grease splashes etc.

The glass is really good. We had the entire kitchen done with silver glass, looks much better than tiles and keeps pristine. The bit behind the hob had to be heat strengthened. The people who fitted it all, as Tom says, stuck it on so nothing can go behind. Ours was done 3 years ago and looks just like new.

I have a black glass splashback and nothing gets behind it, it's also very easy to clean.
I wash the splashes off with hot soapy water and then use a microfibre cloth to dry it.
