Honestly, even if you end up requiring use of a wheelchair, it's no big deal. My dad has MS and thus can't walk anywhere near as far as is required during a visit to WDW so he finally relented on letting us wheel him around for the day. Best decision we ever made, we were practically treated like royalty - nothing was too much trouble for the staff, we skipped several lines without using FP+ because of the way the disabled access for some attractions works. Although you have to spend a few minutes (and $) hiring one and returning it, it honestly had a net positive on our trip, not negative. I will greatly miss having a wheelchair in our party this time round, it was so convenient. We did not request an accessibility pass or anything like that, just having the wheelchair was enough.

Best of luck with DD's recovery, but if she can walk a short distance from a loading bay to a ride vehicle, you should be absolutely fine.

We had similarly good experiences at Universal and SeaWorld too.

We hired a wheelchair for MK last year due to mobility issues and just wish we had done it for EPCOT! Embarrassed for about five minutes until reality checked in and knew it was the only way to get around!

Looking at worst case scenario - if we do need to hire an ECV and do so from a outside company is there room for the scooter in the room at BC with 5 of us in a room?

One possible solution - find a space where the corridor widens out and park the ECV there overnight to charge it, remembering to take the key with you! On our last trip to WL we noticed that one gentleman parked his round the corner from his room and it didn’t cause an obstruction. Hotel staff are very tolerant of ECVs and didn’t move it.
