Galaxys Edge revised thoughts

DS is a huuuuuge Star Wars fan and has been religiously studying all info about GE since it opened in Calfornia. The latest info is obviously numbers are way down a you can be on the Millennium Falcon within 30 minds of joining the queue! Thoughts seem to be it's one ride and a series of shops designed to extrxt more money from guests. Do Dibbers think this will be repeated in WDW, or as Florida is aimed more at the tourist market rather than Calfornia's more resident visitors we're looking at complete saturation?

I think and gather from what I’ve hear/seen on SM that people have stayed away due to the thought it would be mega busy having just opened!

Also CA is a locals park.

What effect it has on WDW will remain to be seen but there has been offers on rooms to passholders so possibly again people staying away, who knows!

I’m not a Star Wars fan fan but I think it looks an interesting area as so immersive! 😄

I think it’s hard to judge really . Wdw is lot bigger and offers more, it’s closer to Europe and has a lot more disney onsite rooms than DL offers . I don’t remember there being as much of a fuss when Harry Potter opened in CL as at Orlando either.
You can bet if numbers are down than expected Disney will be doing everything to get that second ride opened asap for sure .

Currently the land offers a ride not to dissimilar than Mission Space and a load of expensive merchandise. All will change when the main attraction opens later this year

We are going in October and expect all the parks to be busier. If they are not it's a bonus but we will be prepared. We have booked a night onsite for the EMH but as yet it could be for Pandora if we can't get a fp although we both want to walk thru GE just to see whatvits like.

This word immersive. In concept yes it sounds amazing. But with 50 people deep between you and the interactive piece of themeing is a bit lost on me.

I love the detail, music etc. of Disney lands and resorts, but, as you say, excessive crowds are an issue when relying on theming rather than one or two more attractions.

Keep in mind that Disneyland is mainly visited by annual passholders and several of the cheaper passes are blocked out all the way through to the middle of August. This will no doubt be having an impact on the crowds.

WDW is a different kettle of fish. They have over 30,000 hotel rooms alone on property and are much more of an international tourist destination. I'd expect GE there to be much, much busier as a result unless they (hopefully) implement a virtual queue to enter the land.

I think if it's as busy as they hope this is what they are gonna do,you will be able to book it the minute you walk in the park and they will let you know when you can enter!I however will be sticking to extra extra magic hours!

I think they ended up offering virtual queue in DL for Millennium Falcon Smugglers run when it was super busy, would definitely do that in WDW/HS I would have thought if they get the numbers, plus I think they are extending EMH to a 6am start, so I'd say make the use of those with your body still on UK time!
Personally I think Galaxys Edge looks awesome, I mean it has a life size millennium falcon for crying out loud!
