The rest of the parks wait times are really low ! Everyone must be in GE! I don’t think 180 mins is so bad for a brand new ride...

Low? I suppose it depends on your definition.
It's only 9:25am and Slinky Dog has a 55 minutes queue, RnRC and ToT have 40 minute waits, the wait for Kylo Ren is 60 minutes. When I looked a couple of hours ago, SDD had a 50 minute wait - this was at 7am in the morning FL time. The park usually isn't even open at that time. Sure, it's not stupidly busy but I wouldn't say the rest of the park was quiet. Not at just half an hour after it would usually have opened.

I see Bob Chapek had something to say about 10 hour queues:
cnbc/2019/08/28/disn...tentional.html “One of the wins that we had with the opening of the original Galaxy’s Edge [in California] is that we didn’t have the waits,” Bob Chapek, chairman of parks, experiences and products, said. “The deep secret is that we don’t intend to have lines ... If you build in enough capacity, the rides don’t go down and it operates at 99% efficiency, you shouldn’t have 10-hour lines.” “So, 10-hour lines are not a sign of success,” he said. “It should be seen as a sign of, frankly, failure.” I guess he's still feeling burned by Universal's "a Universe is bigger than a World" comment.

Ah, ok. Yes. Sorry. You are right. The other parks aren't busy. As you say, most of the crowds are at HS/GE.

Universal has a poor record when it comes to opening rides or parks, it must be said.
I was in Orlando when Universal Studios opened. We didn't go on opening day, but it was in the first couple weeks. Nothing was working - none of the big rides, at least. We spent hours queuing for Jaws, Kongfrontation, Earthquake etc for nothing. We got a refund and went back the next year. Not sure if Islands of Adventure's opening was better, but look at Volcano Bay... the opening was a disaster. And now, Hagrid... looks like a great ride for sure, but 10 hours wait is a little bit over the top. I think HP and the Forbidden Journey was also breaking down all the time, again with massive queues as a result. I'll stay clear of Universal's Epic Universe of Epicness for at least 6 months after opening ha ha! |

We haven't left for HS yet! We actually have FP's booked for TOT etc so hoping we get a parking space.
Once in there, we'll play it by ear whether to do Galaxy's edge virtual queue or not. |
