Staying outside Manchester

Hi all. I'm driving from Glasgow to Manchester and I'm looking for a hotel for a night. I'd prefer to stay outside the city centre and use public transport to get in for an event I'm going to, and somewhere that I can park and also check-in late evening would be great. I'll also need to be able to get back to my car at about midnight! Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Media City would be a good option. You can get the tram in to the city in around 20 minutes. There is a Holiday Inn and a Premier Inn at Media City with a secure multi story next to them. It’s a nice area too with bars and restaurants and the Lowry theatre, shopping outlet (although there aren’t many shops in there really) and IWM just a few minutes walk away.

Also, coming from Glasgow it’s ‘this side’ of Manchester if you know what I mean. It’s just M6 then M62.

Also ‘this side of Manchester’ is the Premier Inn in Bury. It’s next to the Metrolink (tram) station, a 20ish minute ride into the city.
