We did this exact thing on Friday. Twilight check in at 6pm was a breeze took five minutes max.

We were checked out of pi by 7:50 and sat outside the Harry potter shop by 8:10. Gate wasn't announced until 9am and was a five minute walk. We queued longer to get in the gate than we spent in security.

Also we didn't have fast track, that was just standard.

Thank you everyone. Think we will stick to what we are doing but be down and ready for breakfast early. Does anyone know what time premier inn starts serving from? Sure I read somewhere it was 6.30 ?
Either way will plan to be checked out by 7.50. Knowing us we will be earlier as my little boy will be bouncing ready to go

Im sure PI Gatwick starts serving breakfast at 5:30am.

Personally I wouldn’t rush breakfast at PI as you’ll already be checked in. They say allow 3 hours to ensure you don’t stand in checkin queues for too long... you don’t start boarding until maybe 45 minutes before departure and to be honest.. security is never longer than 20 minutes.

Don’t rush yourself on the day is all I say.. something is more likely to go wrong... but that’s just my thinking personally.

Our flight is at 10:10am but we're in the VRoom so have decided to forgo the Premier Inn breakfast for food in the VRoom. As I can never sleep before a flight I fully intend on being at the entrance to the VRoom at 7:10am

I don’t know what time it opens, but definitely DH was there before 6am when he went.

We have done this a few times and two hours is more than enough.
Walk across the road, straight through security ( never had to wait as long as coming back ) then through Duty Free without stopping

Loving the idea of 2nd Breakfast

Have a feeling they are going to have to roll me back onto the Airplane by the end of this holiday
