Celebrating Retirement Tour October 2019 - Day 19 Monday 21 October - Santa Barbara

Pretty basic but adequate breakfast at Hadsten House and we were off again for the short drive to Santa Barbara, one of our favourite places. Arrived at Harbor House Inn at 11.00am and left the car there while we went for a wander and waited for check in. Santa Barbara and Harbor House Inn were just as nice as we remembered 😁

Had a walk to the end of Stearns Wharf and back, seeing a huge pelican sunning himself at the end. We then walked to the end of State Street and back, the main shopping street, totally forgetting how long this street is. We walked 6 miles in total. We browsed in a couple of shops but will return another day to do them justice.

Called into a Mexican on State Street just for nibbles as we were a bit peckish. Both had a mini taco each and shared some onion strings which were really good and then decided to head back to Harbor House for check in. We stayed here in May 2017 and really enjoyed it and were hoping it was as nice as we remembered. We needn't have worried, it is still a lovely little place. The rooms are like little cottages around the courtyard/parking area, with a good kitchen and sitting area, and antique style furniture. Our room has a proper old fashioned record player. They don't provide breakfast, but if you stay 2 nights or more you get a lovely welcome basket with the most amazing home baked banana bread (you can smell it being baked when you check in).

Time for food again and as we didn't want to walk too far headed round the corner to Finneys which was really busy but we managed to get a table. Both ordered burgers (again!) and once again they were delicious. Even though we haven't particularly eaten healthily (very hard to do over here &#129315 I can honestly say we haven't had a bad meal, and Brian hasn't had a bad pint yet. Bill came to $45 including tip and a couple of drinks.

Once again we were shattered so back to the room to chill before bed. Night all.
