Hi when I booked our flights with Virgin for this summer premium economy was the cheapest option both ways too. I booked it straight away and even though I know you shouldn't I have checked intermittently on prices and it's never been cheaper, in fact its £3200 more expensive now !

We had the same situation with BA a couple of years back, the PE flight back was cheaper than economy on the way back. I put the £10pp deposit on the flights to reserve them for 72 hours and completed the booking over the phone when I got home.

I honesty thought it was a glitch so when the poor bloke on the phone said the price had changed I nearly ripped his head off and quoted the T&C's as quoted by BA on their website (BA guarantee the price even if Fuel surcharge changes etc), Poor bloke was only trying to tell me my booking was going to be £7 cheaper.

I had this last year and on our flights for this year too - so suddenly am getting the BA PE travelling bug :-)

Pricing is dynamic so it just depends on a number of factors - what I've learnt is that when you find them and are happy book asap, as they can change by the day/hour sometimes.

We've seen this happen on BA a couple of times too.

Simply down to how many seats are left

You see this with First v Club a lot with First being available for less perhaps because business travellers are prohibited to fly First by their employer’s policy even when cheaper..
