Transatlantic in May

Has anyone done transatlantic on the QM2? Or any other ship? We want to do it next year for our 40th and 50th but not sure whether it will be too rough or we will get bored.

Thinking about May/June time.

Will be travelling with our children who will be 4 and 2 by then.

I’d love to hear any feedback please!

Not really sure the question. Do you mean it’s from uk to us and there are lots of sea days?

This worries me also. We don’t even have one that goes that far but there are 3 sea days in a row and I do worry about the kids being bored and also the boat being crowded.

We did go on a 7 day one and apart from 2-3 hours at each of our 4 ports the kids asked to be on the boat as they didn’t like the ports and it was cold. But this was in May in Spain.

We and a group of friends sailed to Hawaii about 10 years ago. Four see days in each direction and one day at each of four islands. Despite there being ten of us to keep ourselves entertained and there being things to do on board, all ten of us said that four days in each direction was too much and boring.

I know it’s 6 days onboard, just wondered if anyone has done it and what their experiences were. Was it boring? Was the crossing rough? Etc

Yes I think it could be a bit boring

Only done a 7 day Med cruise with Disney. Sea days were superb on the Disney Magic, loads to do and see. I would love to have done a transatlantic with Disney.

Can't comment on any other cruise lines though as not done them.

We’ve done a couple of transatlantics (with another bookedfor Nov) but not with Cunard and not with children. We cruise for the itinerary and whilst sea days are ok, I’m a bit bored after 6/7 days at sea even with lots of on board activities. Cunard are not particularly child oriented and it may be a challenge to keep them entertained. It’s impossible to comment on the weather- we’ve been lucky and had calm crossings.
Could I ask why you are looking at this particular cruise.

We love Cunard and want to do a T/A next year. Husbands holidays are allocated and I‘ve only found this one that ties up date wise. Our youngest starts school in sept 21 so so t be taking him out.

Thanks - you will have a better idea of how Cunard cater for children than I have. Happy cruising!

I love sea days and would happily do a cruise to nowhere , however one year years ago we sailed Southampton to the Caribbean in May and force eight gales weren’t a lot of fun !
