As FYI there are three different levels of wheelchair assistance. Wheel chair to gate wheel chair to aircraft door. Wheelchair to seat.

Wheel chair to seat usually requires medical clearance to confirm you/ your relative is able to be taken care of on the plane as the flight staff are limited in what they can do.

A buggy or vehicle may be supplied in a transfer to the gate rather than to aircraft door.

The support is supplied by the airport and not the airline. Each airline has a certain number of assistance slots available to them once these are gone it is dependant on whether other airlines use their ‘allotment’

Assistance can only be guaranteed if booked more than 48 hrs in advance for this reason. If booked last minute it is a request and may not be honoured if no availability. So please do let the airline know if you need the help as soon as is possible.

Thanks
We travel with special assistance, last trip December.

We were unhappy this year as booked premium economy as a treat and one of the perks is getting off first and through immigration ahead of the crowds... as special assistance passengers you are asked to wait until the end you then join the end of the normal very long immigration queue as MCO removed the ability to use the disabled line.

We chanced it and luckily there were some chairs waiting.
It all depends on chair availability and when special assistance staff get to the plane.

Thank you, I’m thinking of changing it too, also traveling with a one year old and two 3 year olds, who I’m sure will be desperate to get off the plane
