I would not miss Hanoi personally . I found it much more authentic experience than Ho Chi Minh . Halong bay is gorgeous and can highly recommend

It was our one splurge of the holiday as we were on a budget .
Au Bang beach is lovely Hoi an .. wait for the evening and watch all the locals come down and set up their BBQ’s quite a sight .
We found cash was handy , plenty of ATM’s . I used a mixture of Monzo and Revolut . I now have a Starling card which offers unlimited ATM withdrawals . Used it in China last year with good success and Vietnam is easier .

It looks like we are extending our stay in Danang by 2 nights. I’m looking at a few hotels including centara golden beach, the Melia Danang and Park Hyatt Danang if anyone knows any of them? Also what sort of prices can I expect to pay for food and drinks in the hotels? Ie, a beer, cocktail, glass of wine etc. Thanks all.

We didn’t stay in Danang, just drove through on our way to Hoi An. If you were considering Hoi An and wanted a hotel just outside the town close to beaches, then I recommend Hoi An Beach Resort but I don’t know about Danang central hotels.

Drink prices, even at the fanciest hotels, are much cheaper than in the UK. We had five main courses and around 10 drinks (between 5 of us) including beer and cocktails for £75 in our Hoi An hotel.

Grand Silverland hotel in Ho Chi Minh cost us £36 for 3 meals with drinks, this was two courses each with a beer, an alcoholic cocktail and a mocktail.

Even the most expensive drinks, cocktails at a beach bar for example, are slightly cheaper than you would usually pay at around £5-6 max
