How busy are the summer holidays?

Trying to decide on a 5 night break in May half term versus a 5 night break in the summer holidays.

Going in the summer holidays will give us abit more flexibility on dates and we could potentially make it a longer holiday. We also like the idea of possibly warmer weather.

But are the summer holidays silly busy in the parks? Would we spend all day queuing? Is there a particular time in the summer holidays that may be marginally quieter?

Thank you...I�ll finally take the plunge and book this holiday one of these days!

They are busier yes. Same as everywhere when school holidays coincide. Weekends especially so. But the days are long so get up early for emh, then take a break when the queues arrive. See shows in the afternoon, do your walking and scenery exploring. The queues drop slightly into the late evening.

It can be done.

This is brilliant advice. We went in August 2017. I was expecting it to be manic but with the long opening times and nice weather it really didn't feel that bad. We did exactly as recommended above, got up for EMT each morning then when the parks got busier around 11am we had an early lunch and then in the afternoon we just cherry picked the shows and rides that didn't seem too busy. Our favourite part of the day was between 9pm and 11pm when the parks got significantly quieter and we were able to ride all the big rides with minimal queues.

Similarly, we've done May Half term a couple of times and it was much quieter than August but each time we had 3 out of 5 days where it was rainy. So although we probably queued less than August it was less enjoyable as we were soggy and cold!

Thank you both. I�m leaning towards the summer holidays now then. With 4 days in the parks I guess we�ll be able to see most things even if it�s busy. I can�t see us ever making EMT (we are not early risers!) but we would definitely make use of the longer days.

Great advice guys, thank you. We are going the first week of the summer holidays for us - 20-23 July for 3 nights. Went around 10 years ago in August and rememberer it being very busy (and hot!) but nothing much else. We stayed offsite then and still had a great time. Have been since in last 5 years in February and May half term and again it was busy but we still managed to get everything we wanted done.

Will be following the advice above when we go in July- it�s exactly what we do in WDW.

We went mid-August in 2018 and it was no where near as bad as I was expecting! It was busy of course but totally manageable! I would definitely go at that time again!
