Mobile Can a passport number be changed on an Esta once it has been approved?

We travel in August and I want to get the Esta done asap. The children's passports run out before we travel but I don't want to renew them until nearer the time. If I complete the Esta now with their current passport number, will I be able to change it at a later point? If yes, will it be a simple change or will the Esta need re-approving?

We agree with Simon, you are just wasting money if you do the estas before passport renewal. Do them when the passports arrive.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll have to renew the passports earlier than I wanted to.

Unless its changed, you get up to 9 months grace on a passport if renewing early anyway! So do it sooner rather than later, it also stops the risk of not getting passport back in time for holiday the nearer the holiday you leave it.

Not any more. You no longer get any months added.

Unfortunately not. This was withdrawn in September last year.

Beat me to it Simon.

Correct on both counts Mr Smax. I read up on esta rules and confirm new passport required. Just got mine (nice new non-EU one - sorry had to mention it ) and no months added from the old passport.
