Shortened name on booking, full name on passport
When booking with Thomson I put the shortened version of my name but on my passport it has my full name e.g. John and Johnathon
I went to Thomson today who said i need to change it and to call customer services and likely pay a £50 fee I want to check - has anyone done anything similar with a shortened name vs long version and did you change it?

The name on your passport must match the name on the booking so I'd be inclined to change it as you may be refused travel.

Also, if you've applied for it, better make sure the name on your ESTA matches the others as well

You absolutely need to change it. Your passport, ticket and ESTA need to match. There is no negotiation, if it doesn't, you will not be able to travel

My work colleague booked me a work flight recently with a shortened version of my name and I had to buy a new ticket at the airport. No wiggle room. All has to match!😣

My daughter's name is hyphenated. The travel agent missed out the hyphen and convinced us it wouldn't be a problem. Got to check in and it was £50 to get it sorted out, even though we'd queried it in the first place

DP travelled Belfast to London for work a couple of months ago and his employer shortened his name - which is understandable as it's what he's known by. They assured him it would be okay but I advised him to ask them to change it. Better it out of their pocket than his

I went to Vegas this year with VA and they had put Nick instead of Nicholas on the booking. Passport had the full name.
Didn't have one issue at all.

Find that odd my daughter's name was hyphenated and it was missed out but we had no problem .But in saying that I do know first name has to match .I think each travel company do their own thing .Our flight was booked through ebookers when a name was put in wrongly for a flight but ebookers changed it with Virgin and never charged us at all
