I’d been a little bit of of bridezilla with the planning (nothing too terrible just a quest for perfection 🤣 )
It rained on our wedding morning and because the church had no vestry (the door opens straight into the body of the church - once you are in, you are in) I just had to hustle into the church rather than have a big dramatic entrance. If you’d have told me during the planning phase that this would happen I’d have been devastated! On tithe day though it was great - I was stood at the back of the church beaming and waving to all my friends - it steadied my nerves and I had a chance to check out people’s outfits 🤣 and really take the whole moment in. I had a chat with the vicar and a few minutes later we kicked off with the entrance music. That moment of anticipation - seeing the church all done up, seeing Mr Lime waiting for me at the end of the aisle was just fabulous. Edited at 09:34 PM. |

My husband forgot the ring in the car and had to run back for it. We told no one til the night before we were getting married, so just my husband, two witnesses and myself on the day and my Dad came last minute, just because he insisted. That was 32 years ago this year and it cost £11 for the license.

29 years coming up this August for us! The most memorable times of our wedding were morris dancing and folk music. We were Squire and Bagman of the local morris side at the time of our wedding and also had a ceilidh band (OH on accordion and melodeon, me on drums, plus other musicians). The morris side formed an arch outside the church, and we morris danced at our reception, I even played the drums in my wedding dress!
I think we had about 80 to the church and sit-down, 120 for the ceilidh in the evening. We had lovely music as many of our guests were professional folk musicians, so we had celtic harp played during the register signing, my in-laws sang the Lincolnshire wedding song at the reception, various other guests sang and loads of friends formed a huge ad hoc ceilidh band for the evening. It was so much fun! Many beards were in evidence of course Don't have a photo of me playing the drums available on my laptop, but here are a couple of morris ones.

Our youngest bridesmaid having a little dance in front of the alter whilst we signed the register. She pulled her dress up at the back and showed her bottom as the finale!
We had about 100 to the daytime and 50 more to the evening.
