Thank you. We have spoken extensively with travel insurance and whilst I can get travel insurance I cannot get cover for my long list of pre-existing medical conditions. Some of them would have no effect on travel, but a couple of them could (unlikely) but could and it is just not worth the risk. I have therefore given up. Something is telling us not to go.

Travel insurance is a minefield and I have learned a lot.

Though if it is something that you didn't declare to them when you bought it then they didn't fail.
You are right, the travel insurance company did not fail but the insurance failed to cover me. I am not apportioning blame to the travel insurance company.

It is my fault, but it was something I was not aware of, as I would certainly not have left it until five days before travel before bringing it to anybody's attention.

Sadly a mistake was made by unbeknown by myself resulting in us losing our holiday.

I'm not sure what the issue is but, if it's because an insurer won't cover one of your diagnosed illnesses, it would still be worth trying brokers before giving up. I have an illness that a lot of insurers won't cover but managed to find a good policy with Axa. I was also nicely surprised by the cost which wasn't overboard.

If you cant go due to illness try explaining that to to - you may not be able to cancel but maybe they would let you change it, perhaps a later date and a destination closer to home.
