I dont think that DVD's are actually any cheaper in the USA than here in the UK to be honest, we have looked for certain DVD's there in the past and thought they were expensive.

You can also buy region 1 DVD's easily and cheaply on sites like play.com's USA version of the site (Not actually based in the USA, still in Jersey, but stocking all region 1 DVD's, many not out in the UK yet and all free postage)

Just go to,

playusa

Prices are listed in $'s but there is a link to click and convert to the prices in £'s

Sorry but DVDs are cheaper in the US than here most new 2 disc DVDs sell for about $20 with single versions going for about $15 and Walmart normally have a clearance bin with DVDs for $2-5 try getting them that cheap in HMV/Virgin

Well, from experience, not ALL DVD's are cheaper, as an example, we went December 2006 (our last visit) and I was looking at "24" box sets, they were $59.99 in Walmart and $69.99 in Virgin (plus tax) and the exchange rate when we went was about 1.72.

Back in the UK, HMV were selling the same box sets for £24.99, same with the box sets for "Angel" and a couple of other series that we looked at.

The Best Buy on South Orange Blossom Trail (just opposite the Florida Mall) has always been my DVD store of choice. New releases from $15, who can argue? Walmart/Target also very good value.

I guess it depends what you're after and how much you're used to paying over here. I must admit that I get all my DVD's from play.com or the like so I've never found them that much cheaper over there. In fact for series boxsets like Nip/Tuck I've found them more expensive.

Oh yes, there are definitely differences in the way the US stores discount - they don't do quite so many offers as we do here, especially on box sets and the like.

However new releases for the week that you are there are always extremely good value, and of course in most cases months/years ahead of our release schedule.

There was a music shop up at Pointe Orlando that sold cheap dvds, cds etc, but not sure if it's still there. There's also one up at Prime Outlets I think it's the same shop, but can't remember the name!
