DS and his gf hired their own car under 25 a few years back and the extra came to a lot - can't remember exactly how much but I want to say it was in the region of an extra £300.

I always added my boys on who were under 25.
Most charge $25 per day.
Sixit is now about 200 per rental thats sterling but were 99 bucks limited group availability.
Uscarhire.com was mine of choice young driver insurance any group all drivers included(up to 4 all can be under 25)
Premium about 200 per rental on 1 driver over 25 only.
Boys drove suburbans mustangs 15 seaters Beemers etc.
Search and compare 25 bucks a day is virtually 300 quids t desk.
Uscarehire.com rentals are via alamo so they OLCI and STC so for unaware youngsters not a bad choice.
Enjoy whatever choice.

I used to use Budget as they didn’t have an under 25 surcharge. Not sure if this is still the case, but worth a look?

When we looked before it was quite a few hundred extra as a young driver surcharge, have they considered uber? We stayed international drive and the total cost of ubers over two weeks was less than it would have cost to hire a car for us with the surcharge (I think all journeys for the two weeks added up to about £200, and that was making up to four/five journeys a day to and from Disney, Seaworld, universal, the malls etc). Might be worth considering!

When we went (we were both 22) we used car on the drive. They didn’t have an extra surcharge for under 25 and we liked that we would get picked up at the airport and taken to our villa so we didn’t have to worry about driving straight away! It was really easy and worked out cheapest for us (we even got upgraded to a convertible!)

My niece, then aged 22 arrived in the US and found there and then that she would have to pay $510 extra on her motor insurance. Fortunately, the bank of mum and dad was able to assist!

Just to be clear you don’t give daughters ago. Is she over 25 and looking to have bf as an additional driver? Or is he the only driver? Uscarhire have the option of choosing a young driver, Sixt I think do young drivers but I’ve heard they take a higher deposit on the card but have no personal experience with them.

Sixt used to be the cheapest with their young drivers surcharge capped at $99 however they've changed that now and quite expensive.

I have a young drivers package with Alamo which is prepaid so avoids any charges locally. It includes up to 4 drivers (3 of which can be aged 21 to 24) and also includes a tank of fuel.
