Question Thomas cook car hire - insurance

We have a holiday to orlando booked with TC which includes the "free car" but to upgrade insurance (which I think is necessary) it would cost us £360. I have already looked at booking car through BA executive club which would only cost us about £300 including a free additional
driver! I assumed we would go with that (as I had previously stated in my other post) but my husband wants to make sure that
the BA insurance cover on the car (from Avis) would be equal to the cover on the "free car" from TC if we took the upgrade on insurance.

Can anyone confirm that this would be the case! I have tried telling my
husband it would be but think he needs to see it confirmed

THanks again

Maureen

The BA Insurance with Avis will be fine. If you do a dummy booking you will see that Insurances and airport fees plus taxes are all included.

Yes, you're good to go with Avis through BA. All the required insurances are included.

This post from March by Orlandoguy covers it all.

With BA EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE YOU PAY , THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO PAY, SO IGNORE ANY UP SELLING YOU MAY GET FROM THE AVIS REPS, TO AVOID IT ALL TOGETHER JOIN AVIS PREFERRED AND YOU CAN SKIP THE COUNTER AND GO STRAIGHT TO THE GARAGE, YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO GO TO THE SMALL KIOSK AND SHOW YOUR LICENCE AND CREDIT CARD ( I also give the. My preferred card) they will print of a slip , ensure there is a zero balance, we also always pay for a tank of fuel so there’s no need to return it full.

In short the BA cover is all you need.

Check Alamo brits too, my "free car" insurance was £192 for an economy. I booked through brits for £137 for a midsize.

Thanks everyone for the replies! When we booked the holiday, it was gonna cost £360 to upgrade the insurance for economy car! Which of course we didnt take! After all your replies Im sure I wont need to convince my husband to book Avis with BA now!

Thanks again

Sorry to hijack this thread but I also have the FREE economy car with TC and theyve offered £360 for insurance

We're happy with this car and don't need to upgrade it, so i just need to buy the insurance... I think!

so do I a) use a website to find the insurance I need - any recommendations and then b) if it is coming in expensive, use an alternative website to book a new car hire with insurance included to see if that is cheaper - again which sites do you recommend (I've tried Discount FCH and was getting £310 for economy)

Thanks
