What happening with cruises at the momemt

Just wondering as see P&O have cancelled into next year.

Are there any operating or are people booking cruises.

I’m not planning anything for next year right now but it’s a long time TIL 2022.

I don’t think many cruise lines are able to sail yet, and possibly not for another few months. Just so hard to say when exactly they will be able to, I think many if not most cruise lines have postponed until spring next year, but even then that is not a guaranteed return date. Just like everything else its a wait and see situation.

I remember hearing Germany tried a no port cruise, there was an outbreak and didn’t do another?

That was with testing pre cruise😡

I honestly think cruising is off until the vaccine is available and in use.

I’m on some Disney cruise pages as we have one booked for next Easter. Disney have cancelled until early Dec so far and there is a lot of hope they will get going by Xmas. I’ve seen things about other cruise lines setting out how they will manage things to get going by the end of this year too, limited offerings - no buffets, reduced numbers at shows, precruise tests for all etc.
However, my in-laws had a cruise booked For May next year New York to Florida and it has already been cancelled. So who knows?
My personal feeling is Disney cruise will be up and running by Easter but I’m not sure I want to pay all that money for no deck party, no fireworks, no meet and greets, limited shows etc.

I only know UNCRUISE a small boat cruise company that we use. This is not normal cruising it is adventure cruising with kayaking, bush waking, skiff riding and hiking, no port calls just wilderness.

They have small boats up to 80 passengers but some boats much fewer. They are not subject to the large boat rules in the US. They tried a cruise in August, all 38 passengers and crew tested prior to trip one week before and at time of trip, all negative. Three days in one passengers result came back positive (I believe it came back in the end as false possitive) the boat came back and all passengers transfered to a pre arranged quarantine hotel.

I can see the big boats going any time soon.

It’s sad thinking of those huge ships sitting empty but I can’t see it being considered safe for a long time to come

The cruise groups are a bit like the Disney groups at the moment with some people seeing 2022 as the soonest viable dates and others booked for far sooner and lots of “open it up for those who still want to go now”
We are booked for September next year but have no confidence it’ll definitely happen but more likely than the cruise we have booked for May which I’m just waiting to be cancelled (we’ve rebooked for Europe for June now anyway so if it isn’t cancelled then it’ll be amended to a 2022 sailing.)
I can’t see us cruising without a vaccine .

We’re booked on a Disney cruise for December 21, whilst I am sure we will be vaccinated by then I am only taking the cruise if it is back to pre covid levels with everything open.

I’m not paying £1000 a night for even 90% of normal.

We’re due to be on the Disney dream in august. Planning as if it will happen but who knows at this point. Wondering if Disney will open up just going to castaway (when does lighthouse point open?).
