My dad was a milkman in the 70s, I used to "help" him on a Saturday.
Really hard work, think it was measured once that he walked 8 miles a day , he also delivered to tower blocks and sometimes the lift would be out of order, or he'd get near the top and there would be a note asking for an extra pint.
He could lift 6 crates of 24 pint bottles onto his electric float and he'd go to work at 2am Christmas morning so that he was back for when we opened our pillow case of presents
I think all the exercise from then helped him live until this May aged 89, he could still walk miles up until a few years ago

My parents always had a milk man called Dave and they stayed with him to he was transferred to the Lichfield area. Was wondering was milk in supermarkets hard to get hold off in the 80’s and 90’s as nearly everyone had milk and orange juice off him. I miss the pop man the most it was 39p each or 3 for a £1 and you got so many different flavours.
