Recent disability - some questions

I’ve recently not been able to walk unaided, walking with a zimmer at the moment, my DH following me with a wheelchair to sit
I am hoping to improve, however if I don’t do you think It’s still possible to enjoy the Parks etc
I know it’s a sensitive subject, but I’d love to hear what people’s take is on it and how they’ve maybe managed if your happy to share your experience, I’d really appreciate it, xx

The parks with a wheel chair is easy far easier than most places. You may want to hire a mobility scooter so your DH doesn't have to push you, but actually getting round the parks is no problem.
As far as rides are concerned as long as you can transfer to a ride (which it sounds like you can) you can go on 95% of things.
Our son has cerebral palsy so uses a wheelchair, I like doing the parks with him as they are much more acssesable than a lot of places in the UK.
The hardest bit is the flight, its not really difficult just a lot of waiting around for assistance to get on and off, and you would need to contact teh airline to request this and a seat near the toilet. The toilet is the only bit we really struggle with but that's because DS needs someone in the toilet with him which is interesting to say the least.
If you have any questions I'm happy to answer them.

The theme parks are definitely some of the easiest places to get around with a wheelchair or scooter. Even the buses are accessible. As mentioned, if you can transfer there are very few things you can't do. I would advise bringing your own or a renting for your whole stay though. The daily rentals at the park are much more expensive. If you bring one from home you can use it at the airport as well.

Many years ago I worked with severely disabled people. It was said then that the only possible places to go on holiday were South Tenerife and Orlando due to the flat surfaces & plenty of sloped kerbs. I don’t for a minute say that this is still the case, but if it was 2 decades ago, I can only imagine things have improved significantly since then , but Orlando was always ahead of the game.

DH cannot walk far due to a back problem. At home he uses a rollator and everything we do is at slow speed. He is just 60. For our last 4 trips we have hired a mobility scooter for our entire stay. WDW is the only place we have visited where the holiday experience is only very slightly diminished. We stay on site, he takes the scooter on the buses and we just get on with having a good time. It is so geared up for scooter use and without it we simply would not be able to visit anymore.

It’s very easy whether your going on the rides, bus even the boats & the monorail also like someone else said hire one from outside the park it’s far cheaper & if you go say to the shopping malls you have it with you, makes life so much easier
