Even though we have plenty of time until our holiday, we have decided to book a private transfer from the Paris station. We dont really want to be squished in a train with hundreds of other people with suitacases and pushchairs. We will take the hit with money if our train ends up not being affected.

Have a look at RS Transports - we used them from Charles de Gaulle and they were very good, and much cheaper than the other companies (we booked a shared shuttle but it's unlikely you would be sharing with anyone).

I don't know if they go from Gare du Nord but you could ask them.

Just bear in mind that if there are train strikes, the traffic will be much worse than normal so your journey will be longer (all the more reason to get a shuttle with a fixed price, rather than a taxi).

If it was engineering works, they might. But it's a strike. I've never known London Transport put on replacement buses when there's a tube strike - just wouldn't happen.

Thanks. We have booked with the company someone further up the thread put a link on. €75 for 3 adults, 2 children one way. Fixed price, and no cancellation fee if I do need to cancel. Also checked their reviews on tripadvisor and they seem really good. I have that booked which now gives me piece of mind and I can still look into other company’s to see if they do cheaper.

You'll be fine going out but coming back is a strike day. Let us all know what happens

If the Monday train back is effected the same as todays and tomorrows then we will miss our connecting train from London to home Not to mention the extra faff of having to get to Gare Du Nord

There are more trains from GdN than MLV - could you swap to an early one?

Possibly but then it depends on which one of those are affected.

We will have to wait and see what Eurostar say about Monday first.

As it stands it looks like we'll have an hour or so longer each end of the journey, RER tickets to pay for and later tickets to pay for from London, plus the faff of the extra train swaps with baby and luggage
