We go there every year as our friends have a place there. Really ‘old florida’ vibe, Low rise small places and bar/restaurantswith character. Close to Palm Beach to see the expensive places, including a drive past Trump’s place. Not many hotels as such but some really nice B&B’s. Good beach and loxahatchee nature reserve near for a visit. Delray beach has more hotels and is close by with varied boat trips and tours.

We stopped at Gumbo Limbo on the way from Miami to Orlando just to stretch our legs somewhere other than the service stops. It added a bit of time to the trip but was worth it. I wouldnt say its worth a trip on its own though. Its quiet small and done very quickly.

I used to live near West Palm so know it well. Palm Beach proper is definitely worth a visit but personally I would stay in Delray and drive up to Palm Beach for the day. Delray is my favourite place in Florida. Small beach town vibe perfectly coupled with larger city amenities. It has a great night scene along Atlantic Ave and the beach is hard to beat. It's popular so sometimes not cheap. But well worth it.

We love the A1A drive up and down that coastline and the Breakers was our favourite place to stay.
Delray was very nice and worth visiting. |
