The character meets were definately a free for all, not organised at all.
The adults are much worse than the kids - one French woman pushed my DD out of the way so she could film her daughter for what seemed like an eternity and the girl was showing no signs of moving on. Eventually I had to play them at their own game and I pushed past some people (adults only I should add) as it was they only way Rachel would get close enough for a picture. Aside from that though I did enjoy DLP but it doesn't really compare to Florida.

We also found people to be incredibly rude and ignorant when we went to DLP - mainly the French I'm afraid to say

Remind me never to go there then! Brian will end up having a right ding dong going by these accounts.
I cannot put up with rude people like that. There is absolutely no excuse.

This happened to us - the queue was horrendously long. There were two kids in front of us - fair enough. They'd queued as long as we had. Suddenly two other kids start cocking their legs over the chains to the right and headed straight for the two in front of us. Victor Meldrew rose to the fore. "Oh! No you don't maties." They were wearing backpacks so I grabbed the straps and swung them behind me. Lots of French prostestations emerged and thankfully I do speak fairly good French and know some vernacular too. I told them in no uncertain terms to s*d off to the back of the line. I delibertaely blocked their way. What was interesting was that the folk behind us made no protest about the jumpers now being in front of them. The two original kids chunnered all the way into the building but I gave as good as I got. When I reported the matter to a CM they just shrugged their shoulders. It's the same with the character meets - those "wranglers(the supposed assistants are less than useless) you have to stand your ground and if a kid shoves in in front of yours then deal with it. International incident or not. It seems Parisian management isn't listening. Above all I hate the smoking in the queues. wesaw one kid burmed on the arm. The father almost took the smoker's head off. We've been three times now and just hate that aspect of DLP. I remember our first trip we were in the queue for Pirates and a group of boys tried to push past us, well they didn't get very far, lol, I told them no way were they getting past us, don't know if they understood english or not, but they would certainly have understood my body language!

I have vowed never to return to DLP due to the outright rudeness of the CMs to the English.

well
not DLP but, whilst queuing up for a ride in Wet and Wild this year, a german couple in front of us(he had very very tight speedos on) he took a very long time to pick skin off his feet and then pick off a toenail and dump it on the step in front of us... then he squeezes a spot on his wife's back , for ages... AGGGH my DH has no stomach for anything like that and actually dry-retched:angry: Just vile, i made my feelings known and they just stared and picked a few more lesions ! GROSS  |

I have to say, we found the impromptu character meets were a bit of a free for all (although with a toddler, we pushed her gently forward, she waited politely and then got a photo with the ones we bothered with); the organised character meets were great; orderly queues, no pushing or queue jumping and quality time with the characters with relative privacy.
Did get irritated by a few smokers in the parade spectators - why do that when you've loads of kids around you?! |
