If that countdown is for a trip to DLP, dont get too excited.

The area isnt open to the general public until official opening on August 17th.

These were pics taken by the DLP.Info press team

:) Slinky Dog's Zig Zag Spin!

Slinky's Zig Zag spin is placed on a small hill on the right hand side of Toy Story Playland, between the Toy Soldier's Parachute Drop and RC Racer.

The shorts sides, visible here from the walk way, have various designs, logos and advertising on them. The long sides are open and provide access to the rides waiting/queuing area.

Although this particular ride is a Disney first and was custom designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, it is based on a standard "Music Express" you may have seen before at travelling fairgrounds.

As the ride requires a height difference, as the back is sloped, they have built a small hill in this area to hide it's structure.

Although the box offers a large billboard with the ride's name, the actual ride entrance is around the side and made up of Lincoln Logs - an american building block style toy. The queue line is also defined by more of these logs, as it winds up the hill and into the box.

The attention to detail on this box is fantastic and, as you would expect it to be, it is painted on all sides. Even from the Toy Soldier's Parachute Drop you will see that the lid is painted with decals and logos.

The interior of the box is printed as well. As you often find with some toys, there are printed instructions to cut out and play a board game. Although it isnt actually possible to play it whilst in the queue line, Imagineering have confirmed that they have tested the game as playable and there are some suggestions that it may be printed in the actual Slinky Dog toy you will be able to buy in the gift shops.

There are some examples of the cut outs around the box walls.

At the end of the queue, you walk past the control booth - made from colourful building blocks before boarding the ride.

It features Slinky Dog chasing his own tail in a circle, getting faster and faster and going up and down thanks to the sloped design of the ride. He circles around Buster's dog bowl, in which he has placed several plastic toy bones and his own baseball.

Guests are seated in groups of up to 3 in individual carts. Contrary to the original design notes, these carts will NOT be covered, but the two silver arches which go over them give the effect of going back and forth and "slinking" like the toy as the ride goes up and over the top of the track.

Worthy of note is the fact that one of these carts has been specially designed to take a full wheelchair - allowing special needs guests to ride without the need for transfer. There is also no height restriction for this ride, meaning the whole family can have a go!

Unlike the standard Music Express ride, it doesnt form a complete circle. Both Slinky's head and tail are placed here instead, neither with any seats, and with moving arms and feet to give the impression he is running after his own tail. Slinky even has cloth ears which will flap in the wind as the ride runs.

Apparently Slinky also talks, chatting with the guests as well as barking at his tail!

RC Racer tomorrow! Pics thanks to DLP.Info

Looks a lot better than I ever imagined and the area is a lot larger than I thought too. The kids are really excited now after seeing the pictures. Lets just hope that we will be able to get on the rides whilst we are there! as we are just so lucky that we have timed it well for the opening. My dds are hoping that there is some nice new Toy story merchandise too so fingers crossed that we will be able to enjoy the area and it wont be tooooo busy! Look foward to seeing pics of the rc racer ride too. Thanks Jameluk.
