Disney's Hotel Santa Fe

Set on the banks of the Rio Grande River the Hotel Santa Fe is designed to represent the arid landscape of the American South West.

As you approach the hotel it looks as if you are about to enter a drive-in movie theatre showing an old Clint Eastwood Western.

The hotel consists of the main building housing reception
as well as the La Cantina restaurant, the Rio Grande bar, a lounge with a huge copper covered wood burning fireplace, the Pow Wow games arcade (extra cost), a children’s play area with activities on certain days and a shop. One of the famous Disney characters makes a personal appearance every morning in the lounge area for photos and autographs. At reception you can also book meals and shows, exchange currency and use the safety deposit boxes. You can park right outside your room.

Surrounding the main building are 49 “pueblos “ built in traditional New Mexico adobe style.

THE ROOMS

The hotel offers the most affordable accommodation on site. It has 1000 bright and colourful Mexican themed guest rooms (non-smoking rooms and rooms with wheelchair access are available) which can accommodate up to four people in two double beds.

Bunk beds are available in some rooms and cots are available on request. The cheerful decoration includes bright Navajo Indian style geometric patterns on the mirror frame and bed spreads.

All rooms have a telephone, radio (including Disney fairytales) and television with international channels and, of course, the Disney channel. If you use the telephone to give you an alarm call Mickey himself will wake you up! Tea and coffee making facilities are available at an extra cost. The en-suite bathrooms all include bath with shower facilities. Towels and soap are provided. A hairdryer is also available on request. Each building has an ice machine.

RESTAURANTS AND BARS

At La Cantina European dishes are served up alongside Tex-Mex specialities such as fajitas, burritos and tortillas in a recreation of a Santa Fe market. In the fun "food court" style buffet guests collect their salad from the back of a real Dodge truck which is parked up like a counter and petrol pumps double as drinks dispensers.

The walls are covered with decorative hubcaps.
A children’s menu is also available. Sombreros, cactus and a Grand Canyon mural decorate the dining area beyond.

The restaurant seats 700. Continental breakfast is included in the room price or you can request a Fantasyland breakfast in the Chalet de la Marionnette at no extra cost, which also gets you into the park an hour early. A hot American-style breakfast can also be purchased at a supplement.

In the Rio Grande bar enjoy one of Disney's imaginative cocktails or maybe another Mexican speciality a Tequila Sunrise. There is also outdoor terraced seating. There is live music or karaoke in the bar most evenings.

SHOPPING

The Trading Post offers a good selection of Disney theme park souvenirs as well as snacks and drinks, toiletries and a range of hotel logo products. If you have made purchases in the parks and had them sent to the hotel you can collect them here in the evening. Photos taken with one of the characters in the hotel lobby can also be viewed and collected here.
Next door to the hotel is a petrol station which also sells basic groceries.

SERVICES

In the hotel grounds there is a Mexican playground "Totem Circle", themed on the relics of an Indian village

Check in time is 3 p.m. but if you arrive before that you can leave your luggage here while you head off to the parks. Check out is 11 a.m. but again you may leave your luggage and collect it later when you are ready (or as ready as you’ll ever be!) to leave.
Shuttle buses leave every 15 minutes or so – more frequently at busy times. Or you can walk to the main park in 15 - 20 minutes on the path that runs alongside the Rio Grande between the hotels Santa Fe and Cheyenne, round the edge of Lake Disney and through Disney Village.

There is no pool or air conditioning though all rooms have a ceiling fan.

SUMMARY

A very basic but clean and comfortable hotel “in the heart of the Magic” which provides everything you could need with no frills

Disney's Sequoia Lodge Hotel

Disney's Sequoia Lodge Hotel is a mid-range property situated on the banks of Lake Disney, about a 10 minute walk from the two Disneyland Resort Paris parks. The hotel is in the theme of the great national parks of Western America. The hotel features 1,011 rooms plus 9 luxury suites along with 2 restaurants and a bar.

The hotel was designed by Antoine Grumbach, a French architect with a passion for the Montana and Yellowstone Parks.

The hotel has the following facilities:

*"Quarry" Indoor & Outdoor Swimming Pool & health club*
Situated in a separate lodge (just a short walk from the main building), the Sequoia Lodge swimming pool offers a fun children's slide plus a jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath and fitness room. There is an outdoor section (linked to the indoor pool) which is open during the summer months.

*Free or Valet Car Parking*

*Concierge*

*Currency Exchange*

*Children’s Play Corner*

*Kit Carson's Video Games Room **

Northwest Passage Boutique

A great shop stocking essentials and snacks plus a whole host of Sequoia Lodge themed items. You can also get your camera film developed here.

Hunters Grill

Situated at the ground floor (lakeside) entrance lobby are the two restaurants. Hunters Grill is the more expensive, "fine dining" option, serving delicious carved meats at your table.

Beaver Creek Tavern

This restaurant is famous for its "starter and desert" buffets and serves delicious barbecue-type food.

Redwood Bar & Lounge

A relaxing bar/lounge with a glorious fireplace. Serving hot and cold drinks, the bar is situated next to the lobby of the main building.

Guest Rooms

The Guest Rooms at Sequoia Lodge come complete with natural wooden furniture and are comfortable and well equipped. When making your Sequoia Lodge reservation you can choose between a Standard or Montana room.

What is the difference between a Standard and Montana room?
Montana Rooms are situated in the Main Building -- giving easy access to the hotel facilities. Furthermore, they also have a minibar.
Standard Rooms are located in one of the hotel lodges. They do not come with a minibar.

The two room types come with all the same facilties (except minibar) and are of the same decor standard and size.

TIP - During off-peak season many people get upgraded free-of-charge from a Standard to Montana room. Always make sure you ask if an upgrade is available when checking-in!

Room Facilities include:

•One or Two Double Beds
•Television with international channels, including The Disney Channel for children.
•Telephone
•Radio
•Air-Conditioning
•Mini Bar (Montana Rooms only)
•Hairdryer (upon request)
•A safety deposit is available at the reception
•Single sink bathroom

Plan of standard rooms -

Standard Rooms overlook the woodlands, paths or car parking of the hotel. However, occasionally you may be lucky and get a standard room with a "partial" lake view.

Breakfast

All Sequoia Lodge Hotel packages include breakfast. Breakfast is taken at one of the two hotel restaurant each morning. Upon checking-in you will be asked to pre-book your breakfast seating times. This allows the hotel to try and ensure that the whole 1,011 room occupancy does not arrive for breakfast at the same time. However, many people still find the breakfast experience extremely busy and very crowded. It may be best to avoid the most popular times (8am-9am) or take advantage of the Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast option. This is available for no supplement, but must be reserved in advance.

Suites

Sequoia Lodge has 9 suites, and each comes with the exclusive "VIP FASTPASS" benefits, allowing you to make use of the fastpass facility on attractions in the parks (unlimited). PLEASE NOTE: Sequoia Lodge suites do not come with room service. Honeymoon suites are available for a supplement, with lake views.

Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch
*2 stars* *Mid-Range*

Disney's Davy Crockett Ranch is a mid-range property situated 15 minutes drive from the two Disneyland Resort Paris parks. You are part of the magic yet seem worlds away on the 57 hectare site with around 150 lodges.

As with other Disney property security is through a manned gatehouse and the extra piece of mind in a keypad barrier entry.

Cabins

The cabins are divided into different Trails, which are connected by a series of paths. Cabins come in 1 or 2 bedroom choices suitable for 4 to 6 people. Consisting of a living room including kitchen area, sofa bed, arm chair, table and chairs, television and telephone. The bedroom consists of a double bed, bunk bed and fitted wardrobes. While in the 2 bedroom cabin the second room has the bunk beds and wardrobes. The toilet and bath are in seperate rooms. The bathroom has washhand basin and shower over the bath. The kichen is well appointed with 4 plate hob, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge with ice box, toaster, coffee machine and all the equipment and crockery required. Bed linen and towels are provided, although you will need a tea towel. Outside each plot has bbq grill, picnic table and space for car parking.

The following facilities are available:

Blue Springs Indoor Swimming Pool

Situated in a separate lodge beside the other facilities, the Davy Crockett ranch swimming pool offers a fun water shute, three Jacuzzis and a bridge walkway across the pool. Towels can be hired for a small charge. Considered the best Disney pool in the Resort and for many, one of the main reasons for coming to DCR.

Crockett Tavern

This restaurant is famous for its "starter and desert" buffets and serves delicious barbecue-type food. You can find the dinner menu here A handy feature is that the restaurant offers a take-away service so you can eat back at your cabin, without having to cook for yourself.

Alamo Trading Post Store

Quite a large store selling provisions as well as a variety of souvenirs and Disney merchandise. If you use the shopping delivery service at the park you will pick your goods up here later in the evening.

Crockett's Saloon Bar

A small cosy bar. As well as seating inside there is also tables outside on the decking. In the evening there is often a band playing and from the outside area you can watch the many evenings entertainment provided by the Cast Members.

Bowie's Bike Barn

Includes the information centre as well as the expected bike hire for touring the ranch. Bikes, quad bikes and scooters availble for hire.

Davy's Farm
A petting zoo with a number of animals. Horse and pony rides also available.

Indian Camp

Indian camp including tepees.
Behind here are the Reindeer, which appear in the Christmas parade.

Outdoor Activities

Outdoor play area
Covered tennis court.

Lucky Racoon Games Arcade

Breakfast

All Davy Crockett Ranch packages include breakfast. Breakfast is collected at the various huts, which are convieniently situated in each trail. On presentation of your ID breakfast you are provided with your breakfast in a box so that it can be carried back to your cabin.
Inside you’ll find 2 croissants per person, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, butter, jam and carton of fresh orange juice. You’ll also get a bagette and milk if required.

Guests of the Ranch can park at the parks and at the Disney Village for free, which offers some comfort that you require your own transport as shuttle bus is not available.

Hotel New York - Empire State Club (Suite)

Stayed at the Hotel New York for 2 nights at the end of November, visiting specifically to see the Christmas decorations. Chose hotel as being closest to the park aside from the very expensive Disneyland Hotel. Chose Empire State Club as we knew it would be busy and we wanted the VIP fast passes. Have previously stayed at Sante Fe, Cheyanne (twice) and Newport bay Club (twice).

Travelled Eurostar and used Disney Express, so bags were delivered to our room. Hassle free check-in on arrival (and we were 9pm at night after we had left park and eaten) - personal service sitting down at a desk (not queuing up). Were upgraded to a suite on arrival - which was a very large room (perhaps double normal size), with queen size bed, large bed settee for DS (also single bed settee which was folded into a pouffe), table and chairs, bed side tables with decent lamps, side table with computer access - we didn't use), utility sink with coffee perc and selection of coffees, separate teamaker and selection of teas, large TV with a welcome message for me and my family - nice touch (still only showed the usual stuff though), side table and a view of the front of the hotel towards the park with castle and space mountain in the distance. Standard bathroom (beware floor was lower than bottom of bath which made getting out of bath slightly tricky) plus loads of shampoo / shower gel, and a vanity set of nailfile, comb, sewing kit, shower cap, cotton wools balls etc all packaged in a Snow White set of boxes (very cute) and use of bath robes and slippers. Fresh rose was a nice touch. Also minibar (we didn't get it unlocked), safe in wardrobe and large wardrobe / drawers. Bed was turned down each night and chocolate coins left on the pillow. Very comfortable room and nicely appointed.

Breakfast was in a separate room just for Empire State Club - very civilised - maybe a dozen or so tables only - with a good hot and cold selection. Characters mingled (Goofey and Minnie the first day - early - and Pluto the second day - later). It was very laid back and pleasant. I think soft drinks are available free of charge through the day here - though we were never back at the hotel to use it.

We booked to eat in the buffet restaurant in the hotel (Parkside Diner) each night - booked by telephone before we arrived. Opens at 6pm (from memory) and early it is Brits and quiet - gets busier later though still not packed. Worth booking as people were being turned away later. Nice selection of hot and cold and good kids selection as well. Smoked salmon, cold meats, salads, soups, bread rolls for starters, several hot meat dishes, veg and potatoes, as well as salad for mains, lots of small desserts and cheese and crackers/bread. For children there were chicken nuggets, smiley potatoes, jelly, sandwiches (early) for example. Soft drink comes in the price. We booked half board vouchers in advance as there is a saving.

VIP fast pass - was a god-send as park was very busy on Saturday and Sunday and it meant we could get on Thunder Mountain, Buzz and the like with ease. Can use them from 10.30am onwards.

Having used Empire State Club once we would find it difficult not to book to use it again on subsequent visits as it really was good, especially if you are visiting at a busy time.

Hotel l'Elysée Val d'Europe - stayed October 2009.
Booked with Disney 3nights 4 days for £354

On arriving at disney (by VEA from Beauvais) we waited for ages on a bus, bus stop is not clearly marked and there are no buses between 12 and 2! We eventually went by train, although not free they are much more convenient and the train station is only 2 mins from the hotel. The bus when we did use it was very crowded and very slow!

Check in was fine, receptionist spoke good english and was friendly and helpful. Room was on 4th floor, up on lift and then along the corridor almost to the end, press the switches to light the corridors, they are energy saving and I have read reviews where people complained they were very dark -just switch them on!

Hotel was nice, room was ample and was cleaned daily, lovely bathroom with clean, soft towels and nice view of the town from our little balcony.

Breakast was continental style, but more than ample even for my eats nothing DS, lots of cereal, croissants, petit pain and bread rolls. Toast machine, cheese, ham, yoghurts and fruit. Drinks included tea, coffee, orange juice and lovely hot chocolate. We didn't eat in the hotel apart from breakfast.

Shopping mall is directly across from the hotel complete with very large supermarket, disney store and McDonalds (for very fussy DS who didn't eat food in parks on vouchers).

All in all I thought the hotel was fine, got a good deal and also can use EMH with this hotel (not other near the magic hotels).
