Going to sit down and do it at Easter, now that I know it doesn’t need to be done for a while.
Does the student have to put down about jobs they have? |

Is anyone extra worried about their children being at university regarding the Coronavirus? As you all know, our eldest son works in Vietnam as a teacher and the schools there are closed, he hasn’t taught for 2 months (although the first part being due to the school holiday, the last 3 weeks have been due to the virus fears). His girlfriend’s school is also closed. They are going in to set work online and mark it but no children are attending.
Georgia is home for reading week this week and we are discussing it. She attended the mass gathering in Bristol for the climate change strike last week and of course, is sharing her halls with six other (often messy) students. Plus she attends lectures and lab sessions with other students and goes out, just as all our children do. We aren’t panicking but advising her to make sure she washes hands even more and use her own chopping boards etc to prepare food. There are also rumours of major cities being lockdowned if there is an increase in confirmed cases in that city which would be very worrying. I know Mel said her son has had teaching affected in Hong Kong, has any other universities put any procedures in place, such as online lectures replacing actual ones? |

I have to say HK is very reactive. His uni has confirmed that all classes will be online until the end of term. They may start up F2F lessons but even if they do, the online classes will continue.
HK closed school from the very beginning. Considering their proximity to China, there hasn’t been so many cases!

Kate is also home on a reading week. No advice from Aberystwyth Uni yet, she is very concerned about her summer job at the moment so we are hoping travel won’t stop.
Hope Georgia is doing well x |

Not overly concerned but with Molly going off to placement in a hospital soon I am hopeful they have a good supply of hand wash and anti bac gel for them to use.
My eldest overwashes his hands and I am struggling to get a replacement carex hand wash for him. Off on the hunt again today for that and extra gel.

Ben was home last week for reading week and coming home this weekend as it’s his bday. I’m not worried at the moment, the uni sent an email informing them that there have been no cases so far and life is to continue as normal and that they will regularly update if anything changes. I think we will just carry on as normal and review things as the days go by. His lectures are currently being disrupted by strikes at the moment rather than the virus!

Our son has said the same about Vietnam, they had a few cases but immediately took precautions such as closing schools and having hand gel available in shops, restaurants etc. The spread of the virus does seem to be slow possibly due to these precautions. He also says the high temperature there seems to be preventing the spread of the disease as it’s reported that temperatures over 26° kills the virus (currently 32° where he lives)
