Hi looking for some advice!
We lost our holiday when TC went bust, but very lucky to be able to get booked again really quickly.
We are now flying in directly from Edinburgh to Toronto then on to Orlando, anyone else flown with Air Canada before, can you advise the plane layout, and what the in flight meals and entertainment are like?

EDI-YYZ is on Air Canada Rouge, the low cost arm of AC, not “proper” Air Canada. I believe the entertainment is on a streaming app. The seating config is 2-3-2.

Don't forget that you need to apply for a Canadian ETA as well as an ESTA for the US. Make sure you use the correct Canadian Government website and it cost CAD7.

Cannot speak from experience, but Air Canada do not get very good reviews on airline forums. Hopefully not the reality.

We flew air canada to Toronto, Toronto to Vancouver and then back to London from Vancouver. We didn’t have any issues. To be honest I don’t remember them being any better or worse than any other airline. I find them all much of a muchness (recently flown economy virgin, delta and air Canada).

We flew Miami,Toronto Edinburgh with air canada rouge in 2018. My advice would be to make sure you get the streaming app before boarding. We didn’t realise until it was too late😟. It’s not on my list of favourites but if the price was good I wouldn’t rule it out. I know most plane food is poor but this was worse than average, I’d buy food for the plane😊.

Flew London to Montreal then to Mco.

We were on a new 777 and I was worried after reviews and it was my first long haul in economy for 18 years ...

Food was excellent better than BA,United and Virgin really tasty great staff, entertainment was fine though I am not fussed about this as I load my iPad up. It was a little squashed but I think regardless of the airline if you are in economy you will never have enough room regardless of the airline

We have gone to Orlando via Toronto a few times and absolutely love Air Canada. Plenty of leg room, good food and entertainment always seems to be good and up to date. The other advantage is clearing immigration in Toronto so you don’t have to at the nightmare that is MCO.

Flying on air Canada is very different to flying Air Canada Rouge.

Air Canada is broadly comparable to BA (just a little more brusque)

Air Canada Rouge is more like easyJet than its parent

You don't get screen backs so everyone needs a phone or tablet to watch movies (and you need the AC app downloaded to do so)

Food and drink choice more limited and much of it chargeable

They are cheap, but the are cheap for a reason. I'd fly them without question but many don't like the no frills approach to transatlantic travel

If you are going via Toronto though it's really worth investigating if you can break the journey and get a night or two in Toronto as you won't regret spending time in that awesome city
