Mobile Thoughts on itinerary for budget Canary cruise

We are a family of four. Two young girls age 4 & 5. This is supposed to be a “budget trip” so we are doing cheap ideas.

madeira
Visit old town
mercado dos lauradoes (market)
barreirinha bar cafe (ocean front bar) need to try poncha there.
la vie (if we fancy a mall)
forte de sao tiago
santa Catarina (park)
buy a craft beer and a pastel de nata (tart)
praca do povo (promenade)
maybe try the wine

la Palma
plaza de esplana (old town & market)
playa de bajamar or playa de Santa Cruz

Tenerife
mercado de nuestra senora de Africa (market)
meridiano (mall)
plaza de espana (town square)
garcia sanabria (park)
lido Martinez Puerto de la Cruz (pool)
*** really need somewhere nice for dinner

gran canaria
playa las canteras (beach)
Santa Catalina (park)
muelle (mall)
vegueta & Tirana roads ( town squares)
kinetic moving sculpture

lanzarote
land train
playa del reducto
el charo de san gines
generalissimo Franco/Leon y Castillo (shops)

this is what I have so far. I doubt we would stay out all day and I am aware of the siesta so will probably do the beach in afternoon because of that.

I just want to make sure there are things to do. Our last cruise we didn’t enjoy the ports and I spent less than £10 in four ports. I know I want to budget but I’d rather spend a bit.
need some nice places for lunch, ice cream, anything local we should try etc.

Plus I haven’t even got to Cádiz or Lisbon yet

We went to a fantastic water park in Funchal, cheap and really nice, look it up?

We were in Cádiz and Lisbon last week. The old town in Cadiz is tiny, narrow streets and squares. There is a beach in the old town but the best beaches are a couple of miles away. The hoho bus stops right by the port.
Lisbon also has a hoho bus but the old fashioned trams are good fun and the kids would enjoy them. We took one out to Belem where the world’s best Pasteis de Belem (Nata) are made. Don’t bother with the ones in Madeira- have the best!

We did the cable car in Funchal and it was great. Sadly we had rubbish weather that day and ended up cutting the day short.
Tenerife we went to Loro parque for the day which I can highly recommend. We hired a car and drove there very easily.

No cable car in Madeira? I don't remember it being super expensive and the views are amazing!

I don’t really like cable cars and I look it’s very high. Littlest also doesn’t want to go on it.

It’ll be like the big wheel in Orlando where I had to sit in the middle cos I can’t go near the sides.

How’s your pregnancy going squishy? My sister in law is finding out the sex of hers tonight.

There is a hop on/Hop off bus tour you could use to get a tour of the island. Or the Santa Maria type wooden ship that sails out of the harbour and allows "hands to bathe" when it arrives at the 2nd Highest Cliffs in Europe.

Britannia called in when we we there in 2017.

Ah fair enough it's not for those who don't like heights or cable cars! We also did the HOHO bus in Madeira which was nice to see a bit more of the island.

Due a week on Saturday, started my maternity leave this week!

Simple pleasures in life, we enjoyed a glass of Madiera on the upstairs open air terrace at the Ritz cafe.

Didn’t enjoy La Palma because it seemed a bit run down with pavements being dug up. I’d go on an excursion there if we went back.

Gran Canaria , we enjoyed the beach and it’s well worth visiting especially if you have kids.

This was all last November on a cruise.
