Mobile Driving from Calais - any recommended stop offs

Hi

We are driving to DLP (family of 5 (a 10 year old and 4 year old twins). Just wondering if there are any recommended stop offs on the journey there (or back to Calais), whether a good place to eat, sight seeing etc?

Also, as we have the car are there any places worth a visit in the DLP area. We won’t be venturing into Paris.

Thank you 😊

Sound picturesque...😂

Practical stop off though. Refuel the car and kids at the same time!

I must admit we only ever stop at services on the drive from Calais to DLP... again not very scenic but good for getting a bite to eat and stretching your legs!

We stopped in at Val D'Europe last trip which is a short drive from DLP and enjoyed having a stroll around the shops (well as much as you with a toddler in tow!) there is also a Sealife Centre there too

Thanks both. For some reason all of the Premier Inns are fully booked near Folkestone the night before going over on the tunnel, so we are changing our plans to drive straight to the tunnel, go over and stay in a hotel in Calais. We’ll then drive straight to Disney the next Morning.

I think the plan is to drive the journey home with no stop over at all. We are in the Midlands, so 3 hours from Folkestone. Seems like a lot of travelling in one day.

Oh wow thats mad that the PIs are booked up! We travel from Essex and always stay at PI Folkestone the night before and then get an early train the next morning. Coming home we always do it in one stretch (although obviously a shorter journey for us)

Yes, I was surprised. There must be something on in the area that day (18th July) because all of the local ones to Folkestone are fully booked, except for one at Dover which is £180 for the night!

We always do the home journey with no stop over, but we do always get a cheap night in a B&B near DLP to make the most of our last day, then set off next morning. The latest we’ve left was around midday, when we’d stayed at Explorers and wanted to make the most of the pool before leaving.

We’re about 5 hours north of Folkestone, so it is a long journey in total, but it’s manageable with a few breaks.

We’ve booked in to a holiday inn express at dartford crossing in February, it was £40 with breakfast included, it’s about an hour straight down the motorway to the eurotunnel terminal. I refused to pay £80 for a premier inn room only near ashford/Folkestone. We went for the 10.50 crossing to give us time to get there. We are staying offsite the first night tho.

We are from Sheffield and always do the journey home in one go. Leave the parks about 2pm, crossing at 7pm-ish to avoid rush hour at Folkestone/round London with going back an hour. Home about 11 having stopped for food.
