Mobile A q about rebooking first next year

Hi all, we are due to pay our balance on 28 April ( travelling 27 July). Obviously it’s looking doubtful we will go plus I don’t think things would be 100% safe anyway.
So we could either pay to transfer to next year before the balance is due but because free dining is not out we wouldn’t get it would we?
We could pay our balance and just move it when free dining comes out (if it does) but then in our money would be tied up all year (£11k) and won’t be covered by travel insurance for this happening again ( new bookings on my policy are now excluded).
Or we walk away and lose deposit (£1750 with cancellation fee).
Any thoughts? Xx

Personally I would walk away and be prepared to lose the £1750.

I think July does look doubtful, in which case you rebook with no insurance. I think that would be too big a risk for me so I would lose the deposit. That is a very big deposit though, why was it so much out of interest?

I would hold off making the decision until the last possible moment however.

We have to pay also 11th April. If we move our booking our insurance will cover us on the same t and cs as our existing booking as long as it is in the term of the insurance. We should travel 4 july but lookjng to move it to later this year. But we visiting the keys Naples and orlando. Still thinking and waiting.

There are 5 of us so £250 pp deposit and £100pp cancellation fee. We have travel ins with Barclays account and they’ve updated their t&cs for new bookings.
Tough decision

Might dining not be out, so you would no if you transfer if it is included? We are with Charter, fly 12th August, bal due 14th May, hopefully will know by then if DDP offered, our deposit and cancellation fee would amount to 1050 for us 3, so waiting a bit longer to decide.

Could you not just leave it, pay the remainder and then assuming parks / flights still closed you will get your full refund? If not (although I doubt this), then you can go?

That's what I am planning on doing for our Oct trip to China if it gets to it. Already paid out too much to cancel myself.

Yes thinking this might be the best way to recover the lot - there is just the risk it wouldnt be cancelled and we have to move it to next year and wouldn’t be insured - we will wait and see what pans out.
