When i worked for a care home, any situation like this, along with a dbs would have to have a risk assessment done by the hr business partner. As long as gaps in employment/ lack of recent references can be reasonably explained and verified if possible, there wasnt an issue. It was a basic form we filled in at the home to explain what the gaps were, it got signed off by the hr bp and the director then put on file. This along with the dbs kept cqc happy.

Thank you. We've done the online application and gave 4 references - 2 previous employers and 2 personal. There was a section at the bottom of each reference asking what the relationship was, so we had the opportunity to explain about places closing, people moving on etc. Hopefully it will be enough🤞

Our business is decorating weddings (all of which have been postponed for the next 3 months), so not sure a previous customer would necessarily be right for it. However, we do have a venue that we have worked very regularly at fir the past few years, so the events manager there might be a good idea

I would hope so, it would certainly be acceptable for the two major national companies i worked for that had care homes up and down the country. Best of luck xx
