Hello! Thanks for all the information - it's amazing! We're looking at a visit in October 2019 (I know it's a while away, but planning takes time and I might have a few holidays booked next year already...). I just have the one question for now (and there will be more!).

How easy is it to visit Mexico? My eldest had a Mexican teacher last year and would love to go!

Over to you Aims. Are things still as dicey crossing over to Mexico or have things improved? Not something I'd consider to be honest...

Still dicey! Nothing much has changed. Sallybunny, I wouldn't recommend a trip over the border these days. Crime in the border towns has really risen over recent years, due to the drug cartels that have moved in. Tijuana, like many other border towns, is also very economically depressed. A large number of the residents live in poverty, and if you look like a foreigner, you will get a lot of people begging from you- including children. If you were flying into one of the resort towns like Mazatlan or Cabo San Lucas, it's a little nicer but even those areas have seen a rise in crime against tourists the past couple years. If it's just a day trip over the border you want, I would really discourage it. A lot of San Diegans don't go as much anymore.

If you want a taste of Mexico, check out Old Town State Park in San Diego. You can get Mexican style souvenirs in the shops and there are a few good Mexican restaurants there too.

Definitely recommend the Old Town for Mexican food. We enjoyed the Cafe Coyote and the giant Margaritas.

Hi Amy.

Hope you’re well.

I’m doing well too thanks. Seems ages since we were there. DW and I were chatting about California the other night and how warm it probably is, especially compared to UK.

It's very warm at the moment! We're in for a hot Thanksgiving this year. Today got up to 92 degrees! 😳
