Order of disembarking confirmed by VA
Hey,
I thought this might be useful to someone. I wanted to know the size of luggage that could fit in the overhead lockers upstairs in the bubble and what order Virgin let passengers off the plain and they confirmed. Edited at 11:30 PM. |

If only this were true regarding the disembarking order. We’ve flown in premium in the bubble many times and every single time, most recently yesterday, they allow downstairs economy off after first class creating a blockage and free for all as the bubble also goes at the same time.
It’s one of my bug bares with premium as the luggage is priority ticketed so comes off first with upper luggage but premium don’t disembark before economy. I’ve raised it with them before and they say that once upper and downstairs premium have left then the rest of the plane is allowed off, inc all the bubble. Now I know this is a first world hassle and to be honest it’s not a massive deal for me, more an irritant and it’s something that puts us off the bubble, although we still sit up there as my partner prefers it. Just wanted to pass on my experience with them so you’re prepared if planning to go premium that’s it’s not quite how they’ve listed it 😊

That order can’t work though as on the 747 the downstairs premium have to get off before upper class.

In all the times we’ve flown Virgin that is pretty much the correct way we have encountered. One trip we could only get seats 25 abc economy downstairs as all premium gone. They allowed us off after first class and premium and before bubble so they had room to manoeuvre. All other economy seating held back

That's not correct. It is the exit row by the door, PE downstairs then Upper.
It should then be the bubble and then economy downstairs

Like Sunseeker when we've flown PE in the bubble (3 times) they disembarked thus:
Two economy seats at front (lower deck) Lower deck PE and UC Free for all... have at it bubble and downstairs economy Chuckled the first time in PE bubble, we were talking to a crew member between economy and PE and could hear what was going on. An economy pax had gone down a few of the stairs with other pax behind him on each stair and a queue in the cabin, said pax wouldn't filter in, economy pax behind him were ticked off and calling to him to move, he wouldn't/didn't until downstairs economy had cleared. When we got to the top of the stairs there was no crew member, we guessed they'd left bubble pax to it. Since then, minus ticked off pax, above is the way we've disembarked from the bubble. It doesn't bother us, but it's understandable why many PE pax chose to sit downstairs.

Lizzie145 is correct.
We fly 3 or 4 times a year with Virgin and in 16+ years it has always been this way. Now I'm not saying they don't allow a free for all but I have never seen it happen.

It is definitely not true. There is a door at the back of the Upper cabin and another door at the back of the PE cabin. They use the PE door so Upper do not get off first, PE does. The only way Upper could physically get off first would be if they told PE to remain in their seats and let Upper file through, which obviously isn’t going to happen. I have only disembarked at Orlando and Gatwick on a Virgin flight and this is what happened at both ends.

We have had one experience of PE in the bubble when we were trapped in the bubble as it seemed the rest of the plane disembarked. If you get a poor attendant managing the filter at the bottom of the stairs then this is a possibility.

Are you sure that’s the dimensions for the bubble overhead locker? It looks quite big and my small cabin case wouldn’t fit last year.
