How do FPs work for shows?

It's my FP day tomorrow and with the DHS tier changes we'll need to Fastpass a show.

Do shows still take a full one hour chunk even though they're at set times?

So if I had a FP for the 10.30 Frozen showing, would my next one still have to be after 11.30? Or could I book it at 11am?

Thanks!

They take a full hour, but the window starts half an hour before the start of the show. Here's a screenshot of a dummy booking I just made.

You get an arrival slot which is around 15 - 20 minutes before the show starts. Generally if you arrive at that time you would get a seat anyway. So I’d only fast pass a show at Hollywood where there are limited option.

Where a fp for a show is more useful is if you dont want to get their early. Turn up a few mins before the start and you still have a decent seat.

Ah gotcha, thank you! So we're only going to be able to FP it if we get a 9am FP prior? And a 9.05am will be no good? Bit of a faff really!

It's more out of necessity with the tier changes

Would much rather be able to FP three rides in advance!

Yep, it’s exactly as you say, so not only is it a waste of a FP, it also complicates getting a good time for your other ones.

I ended up deciding to not bother with FPs at HS and just make the most of the EMHs before park hopping.

i never knew this- never used a fast pass on a show- usually chance our luck and try just before it starts- usually get in. Is it right is if you don't get there 20 min early with the fast pass, do you loss the advantage a they are already loading others?

I didn't think the fastpass slot for a show was a full hour? In the past they used to be just 20 to 30 minutes. Basically the fastpass slot would start about 30 minutes before the show and end around 5 minutes before the show's start time. See here for example:
