We also did the little toots boat trip, which was great.
We are planning on a boat trip too whilst we are there as never seemed to fit it in on previous visits.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Clearwater beach last week, we had a 2 bedroom suite gulf front, it was great, lots of room and sleeps 6. Fantastic views from the 14th floor, not sure what your budget is but this was about £500 per night with the resort fees.

We stayed Pierhouse 60 Marina Hotel Clearwater great hotel and fabulous location. Just across the road from Pier 60 where you fish off the end. You can either hire fishing gear or take your own which my son done. I think its a dollar to go on the pier. We have fished several times off the Pier its wonderful to see the dolphins jumping.

We stayed at Sunrise Garden Resort on AMI. Fantastic location. Easy walk to beach on either West or East side of the island.

It is mainly self catering apartments. It is not a high end all newly refurbished resort. But all was decent and clean, friendly helpful staff and then i come back to the key point of great location. Plus it was a reasonable price compared to some of the other AMI options we found.

We will stay here again on another visit.

we recently returned and stayed at Pier 60 lovely hotel, tooms were beautiful we had a great view and the location was perfect. Parking was around 20 dollars I think and the hotel included breakfast. The best part of it was the roof top bar to watch the sunset at night just beautiful

Anna Maria is a great little island and if you're going for the beach you will not be disappointed. If you're looking for chain restaurants and hotels you won't find them here, but you will find some of the best food and places to stay/eat right on the beach. The north end is chilled out and the south a bit more lively. There is a free trolley bus that travels round the whole island, which is great. We stayed two weeks, over Christmas, last year and are going back this year. I preferred it to Clearwater and St Petes although I haven't been to Marco Island. If you're looking for a couple of days of 'old Florida' and a break from the hustle and bustle of Orlando then head for AMI. The sunsets are amazing!

Sounds lovely. I am in the middle of researching the different areas to see which one to choose. We could even visit them even if staying in an alternative area. Looking forward to visiting a few beaches in that area. Thank you for your reply.

Absolutely loved it. As a pp said, it doesn't feel commercialised. You won't find a Perkins or iHop. But there are great places to eat. There are no big chain hotels, so it is either somewhere like we stayed at or a villa type rental. The beaches are huge, not crowded in any way. They really are stunning. Sunrise was amazing. Had so much fun with with our kids in the sea and the waves crashing around.

We will be going back!
